What If I initially agree to participate, but change my mind later in the process?
This is a voluntary program; you can choose to exit the program at any time.
Does everyone receive the same services?
No, every person’s plan will look different based on their unique situation. Each employee will learn about RETAIN KY and can choose to participate based on their group assignment and their return-to-work goals.
Can I participate with RETAIN Kentucky and receive other services? (e.g., Office of Vocational Rehabilitation)?
Yes, if you meet each program’s eligibility criteria, they can work with multiple community programs or workforce partners while working with RETAIN Kentucky.
What is the difference between enhanced and expedited groups?
All RETAIN Kentucky employees will receive eligibility confirmation, complete an intake interview, and be assigned to a Return-to-Work Coordinator (RTWC) for their group which includes individualized RTW services. Both groups will receive support specific to social determinants and support with healthcare and employer communication. The length of services varies depending upon worker engagement, identified RTW goals and their group assignment. The length of service also varies based on the optimal amount of time needed to meet their RTW goals.
What kind of diagnosis is eligible for RETAIN Kentucky services?
A person that has a diagnosed medical condition (ICD 10 code) is eligible for RETAIN Kentucky services. Examples include, but are not limited to, behavioral health, cardiac conditions, diabetes, and physical diagnoses that impacts their ability to stay at work or return to work.
How long do services last?
Length of services varies depending upon worker engagement, identified return-to-work goals and group assignment.
What services are provided?
All employees are assigned a Return-To-Work Coordinator, create a return-to-work plan, receive information about resources to promote and support self-advocacy to address social determinants, and learn ways to work with healthcare providers and employers.
Does RETAIN Kentucky work with healthcare providers?
Yes, we equip the employee to work with the healthcare provider through self-advocacy and communication.
Does RETAIN Kentucky work with my employer?
Yes, we equip the employee to work with the healthcare provider through self-advocacy and communication.
Why is RETAIN Kentucky Phase 2 a research project?
Research has shown that individuals with non-occupational illnesses or injuries are at high risk of becoming unemployed. Employees in Phase 2 are enrolled in a study that will examine how early intensive return-to-work coordination impacts recovery and the likelihood of remaining employed.
Can RETAIN Kentucky give funds directly to employees?
No, we do not provide direct funding to employees. The RTWC will connect employees to community resources who may be able to assist with funding.
